TOUR MARAS MORAY /SALT MINES

We will pick you up from your hostel at 8:50 am to 9 am.
Forty kilometers from Cuzco, in the Cuzco Region of Peru, is the town of Maras, found in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Tourist sites in the area include the colonial church and local salt mines, the scenery of which is interesting to observe and photograph.

Since pre-Inca times, salt has been obtained in Maras by evaporating salty water (provided by a nearby subterranean stream) in the sun, leaving the salt behind.
In the mines there are thousands of salt-pools; when light is reflected there the effect is said to be quite stunning.

Moray, seeing this Inca green-house is spectacular!! This tour will take you to the magnificent series of terrace circles set into the ground that were once used by the Incas for experimentation with crops.
You will also visit the nearby salt mines and enjoy the tranquil farms and atmosphere of the area, you will be back by 3 or 2 pm in the afternoon.

Maras, Moray and Salt Mines

MORAY:
A further breathtaking 20 kms drive with the beautiful snowcapped Chicon and Veronica mountains in the Cordillera Vilcanota as a backdrop we continue through to Moray. In Moray we visit  the Inca agricultural greenhouse or laboratory, consisting of four platforms amphitheater style or. Has a depth of 150 meters, the overlapping concentric circular stone rings widen as they rise. It was an experimental place to study the adaptation of plants to new ecosystems.

MARAS / SALINERAS:

located 7 miles from Moray at altitude of 3, 380 m is a small village, as a model of a miniature city. Famous for its salt mines, made up of about 3000 small wells with an area average size of about 5 ms . These were already exploited since Inca times as a means of economic exchange and securities. Very interesting to see how the salt is recovered from these mines and the lives of those who work here.
